2016-2017 has been such a life changing period of time. I finished school, worked full time as a waitress, I fell in love with the most amazing guy, I did an events internship in Johannesburg, I spent Christmas and new year in Bali, I traveled New Zealand from top to bottom and I relocated to Australia. I have done more in this time than I probably will do for a few years. My life is so full of memories from belly ache laughter with old and new friends, teary eyed home sick days, and seeing some of the most beautiful views that this world has to offer.
My phone is full of these amazing photos that I have taken throughout this year and I decided to print out a bunch of them out. Although having the photos on my phone is great and I can look at them when ever I like, I sometimes forget all the things that I have done. Having printed them out I am going to find ways to display them around my house so that I can always be reminded of those memories, because I don’t know about you, but when I remember memories that are happy or make me laugh, it brightens my mood so much and makes me feel so happy. Anyway, I thought that I would share with you some of my favourite photos that I got printed out.
Let’s start with one of my all time favourite photos of my family. This photo was taken the weekend before I left England to go to South Africa. We had just managed to get out of a puzzle room with 3 seconds to spare and had spent the previous hour prior to this photo locked in a room looking for clues to figure out a way to find clues that would eventually help us unlock the door. I absolutely loved this whole experience, it was amazing to work together as a family and we all showed different strengths. We did have a joint weakness though and that was the maths equation right at the end. Thankfully we still made it out the room in time!!
Although the quality of this next photo isn’t great, it still makes me so happy! This photo was taking in an underwater phone pouch in Mexico while eating nachos and salsa on a floating table in the sea. We had just gone swimming with whale sharks that morning and it was honestly one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I was in complete awe of these gentle giants in the sea and it was breathtaking to be in the water with between 30-40 whale sharks. I’m so lucky!
I love this next photo of my parents, they look so happy. I was face timing them from South Africa and it just makes me happy looking at their beautiful smiling faces.
This next one I remember receiving in a text message and a warm fuzzy feeling overcame me instantly, along with an entire swarm of butterflies. This is of my mum taking Ty to the airport in England so that he can fly out to South Africa to come and see me. It just reminds me that I am so lucky for two reasons. The first is that I am so grateful about how much my parents got on with Ty and how much effort they made and enjoyed spending time with him, and second, how lucky I am to have an amazing guy that will fly to the other side of the world to see me. How did I get so lucky?!
The next one, I mean, does it even need an explanation apart from the most incredible white sand beach in Cape Town looking over to Table Mountain. Could it get more picturesque?!?
This next picture makes me laugh so so much! It’s hilarious. We just look so funny in out full wetsuits, especially Ty’s beard! There is just so much happiness and excitement in this picture. This was taken just as we were about to get out of the cage during out cage dive in South Africa. We had just had huge great white shark had come right up to the cage and splash all over us! There is a video of it on my Instagram if you wanted to see, it’s still one of my favourite experiences to date!
New Zealand was filled with some of the most incredible views that I have ever seen and although this picture doesn’t quite capture that, it does capture friendship and I love that. While I was there I met a girl called Maddy and there was this instant connection, one unlike I have ever had before with any one else. She made the trip even more amazing for me, and we literally talk about anything and everything with each other. I miss her so much and cannot wait to see her when I go to Melbourne in September!!!
The final picture was taken straight after I had just completed the worlds highest bridge bungy jump. 216m. I couldn’t stand up when I got back to the bridge and just crumbled into a pile of adrenaline. I loved it and hated it at the same time!
These are just some of my favourite memories, but I have honestly had the best year and I am so grateful of everyone that is in my life and has helped make this year so incredible!
