The Blogger Recognition Award

Last week I was fortunate enough to be nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award. I got nominated as I was sitting at the airport waiting for my flight to Melbourne. This made me unbelievably happy and I had the biggest smile on my face all day, and to be honest, I still do. This might seem like nothing to some people, but to me, it’s a milestone for my blog, and I’m all about celebrating the small triumphs. It’s also made me super motivated and excited about things to come!

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to Mary at GrowingAsTheyGrow for being so lovely and recognising the hard work that I put into my blog, but also thank you for motivating me to carry on doing what I’m doing. If you want to read her acceptance post for the Blogger Recognition Award, and read all of her other amazing posts, click here.

It is an award made by and passed along from blogger to blogger. It is a way for bloggers to connect together, form a community, and to recognize the hard work they see in others.

I have always liked the idea of having a blog. Over the last 3 or 4 years, the majority of people that I follow on social media have been bloggers and I find that they really inspire me. I enjoy reading blogs and I knew one day I would start one. Going travelling on my gap year, was the kick start I needed to set it up and so my blog was born. Initially, it was to keep my friends and family updated about what I was getting up to on the other side of the world, but I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would, and this has resulted into my blog branching out. I am now using this as a space to write about anything and everything and I am really looking forward to my blog future.

This is super difficult as I haven’t even been blogging for a year yet. I still feel like I need all the advice sent my way,

The first piece of advice is ‘You Do You’. That’s right, you. Don’t compare yourself to other bloggers out there. Every one is different and that is what make blogging so great. Allow yourself to be inspired by other people, but make sure that you do what you want to do. If you want to take a long time perfecting your blog photos, thats great, if you don’t want blog photos, that’s also great. Make sure you are blogging true to yourself and do it so that you enjoy it. Don’t beat yourself up about stats or engagement, as long as you enjoy it and are passionate about it, other things can follow.
The second piece of advice is along the same lines as the first piece. Make sure you’re blogging about the things that you want to blog about. Who cares if every single person writes a blog post about their 10 favourite things about Summer. If you don’t like Summer then don’t write about it! Your interest and passion of the subject is visible through your writing and 99% of the time, your readers can tell when the writer isn’t interested in what they are writing about.

My Nominations

This is really difficult to choose only a handful of bloggers. So after a lot of blog reading, I have nominated…

Mimi from Mimazine
Embeth from AbsolutLilac
Lauren from Loulabelle
Hanney from BlogaboutHanney
Shannon from ShannonClare
Kate from KateLovesx
Lily from CovetLuxe
